Straight Pipelines

Paroc provides efficient solutions for all pipe insulation requirements. What insulation solution is right for your needs depends on the operating temperature of the pipe. Pipe section insulation does not sag over time, so its thickness and insulating property remain consistent for the whole lifetime of the pipeline. Paroc always recommends pipe sections for process pipelines.

An insulation solution with pipe sections can reduce heat loss by at least 25%–30% compared to the same thickness of wired mat insulation, which requires a supporting structure to carry the cladding. The supporting structure creates a significant heat bridge inside of the insulation. If a certain maximum heat loss is the basis of dimensioning the insulation for the pipeline, using pipe sections reduces the insulation thickness significantly. PAROC Pro Lock solution

In the PAROC Pro Lock solution, one layer of insulation is enough to replace two layer pipe sections (thicknesses 80–160 mm). The installation time is shorter, which means scaffolding and other equipment is needed for less time, and general on-site and labour costs are lower. The total reduction in costs equals some 20%–30%.

Double layer (DL)

When two insulation layers are needed and insulation thickness is over 160 mm, we recommend you choose DL products. DL products provide you with a ready solution that includes two pipe sections that are dimensioned to fit together. DL products are packed inside each other and delivered together, which means savings through more efficient logistics to and at the site.

In order to meet special requirements, we also have extremely water repellent pipe sections, so-called WR grade PAROC Pro Sections. Please ask for more information from our sales representatives.

Most of the process pipelines operate in the temperature range of 50-250 °C. We recommend 100 kg/m³ pipe sections as insulation solution for them.

For process pipelines with temperatures up to 350 °C, Paroc recommends to use PAROC Pro Section 100 pipe sections in one layer when insulation thickness is <100 mm.

When insulation thickness is ≥100 mm, use PAROC Pro Section 100 DL pipe sections.

Pipes equipped with heating cables or steam tracers are first covered with aluminium foil so that heat is better distributed over the surface of the pipe.

For heated pipelines, Paroc recommends you cover the heating cables or steam tracers with aluminium foil.

Install PAROC Pro Section 100 on pipe, taking into account the change in outer diameter caused by the heating cables and steam tracers.

Turbine tubes operate at high temperatures of up to 550 °C and demand a good, multilayer thermal insulation solution. The fixing of the insulation and cladding is very demanding, not only due to the high temperatures, but also the operating vibration.

We recommend high density, 140 kg/m³ pipe sections, in multilayer insulation solutions for the insulation of very high temperature pipelines. With the PAROC Pro Lock 140 solution, one insulation layer is enough for a functional and economical solution.

For superheated pipelines and turbine tubes Paroc recommends the following solutions:

- Use PAROC Pro Lock 140 pipe sections in one layer when insulation thickness is <160 mm.

- Use PAROC Pro Section 140 DL pipe sections when insulation thickness is >160 mm.

Where pipelines contain high-speed airflow or high-pressure steam, install noise reduction insulation. The most harmful, low frequency noise can be reduced considerably with a high-density multilayer solution. PAROC high density stone wool pipe sections are good for reducing noise in pipeline applications. They do not need any additional supporting structure on horizontal pipelines, which, in many cases, makes the total heat or sound insulation worse.

To improve noise reduction in multilayer insulation solutions, we recommend a heavy facing layer, such as steel, in between the wool layers or on the top of the solution.

For noise reduction in industrial pipelines, Paroc recommends you use PAROC Pro Section 140 pipe sections in two layers.

To improve noise reduction, install a heavy facing layer in between the wool layers.
